# Find the final volume of water when solid is added to graduated cylinder

the density of pure silver pellets is 10.5 g/cm^3. if 5.25g of pure silver pellets is added to gradulated cylinder containing 11.2 mL of water, to what volume level will the water in the cylinder rise?

### Find the volume of the silver

Find the volume of the silver pellets from mass of silver/density of silver. Add this to the volume of water in the cylinder to get the new volume

### i got 11.7 mL for the new

i got 11.7 mL for the new volume. i did v=m/d or v=5.25g/10.5g/cm^3 and i got .5 cm^3 but then how do i cancel out the cm^3 to add the 11.2 L and .5?

### i have another question that

i have another question that i'm confused of is 2.0800 has 5 significant digits. am i right? what about  480? how many significant digits?

can you help me with this problem:
The density of a particular brand of gasoline (a mixture) at room temperature is 0.70 g/mL.  If the gas tank of a car holds 10.0 gallons (conversion factor: 3.7854 L/gallon), what is the mass of a tankful of gasoline?

Correct there are 5. However, 480 only has 2. There are different rules for zeros after a decimal and before a decimal.
