24 glass beads were poured into an empty glass beaker and weighed on an electronic balance.  The mass was 12.366 grams.  An additonal 12 glass beads just like the previous 24 glass beads were added to the same beaker.  The mass then became 32.538 grams. Why did the mass more than double when it was only 12 additonal glass beads added and they were just like the previous 24 Huh

Are you sure there's not more to this problem?

The balance was moved into a higher gravitational field, and the balance was not recalibrated?
