Ok, maybe it's not that hard, but i don't understand one bit of it. here it is..


hydrazine,ammonia, ad hydrogen azide all contain only nitrogen and hydrogen. the mass of hydogen that combines with 1.00g of nitrogen for each compound is 1.44X10^-1 g, 2.16X10^-1 g, and 2.40X00^-1 g, respectively. show how these data illustate the law of multiple proportions.

you'll probably look at this and say something like, woah. that was easy. Wink  but i sure am confused. help??

First you should look up the formula's for each compound:

N2H4  - hydrazine

NH3  - ammonia

HN3 - hydrogen azide

Now let's look at hydrazine,

N has an atomic weight of 14 and H 1 so by proportion,

there are 28 grams of nitrogen in hydrazine compared to 4 grams of hydrogen in the compound or a ratio of

28: 4  ----> 7 grams N:1 g of H

If we look at it in terms of 1 g of nitrogen then   1 gram of N =  1g of H / 7 =  0.143 g of H

a bit off but that is because I used simple atomic weights

now you try the others
